HALOUMI

Description

This incredible cheese has been produced in Cyprus for centuries. Traditionally made in the village from sheep, cow or goat’s milk, its firm, brined and a slightly springy white cheese. Perfect for grilling, saganaki and with a splash of lemon and hint of mint it is delicious all year round. Ideal for use in sandwiches, cooking, salads and as an appetiser. Sahara Haloumi is much lower in salt than other Haloumi products sold in Australia.

Koy in Turkish means “village”. In the regions of Anatolia, in majority of villages you will find this delicious cheese.
This soft grainy white cheese is less salty than feta and is perfect in salads and for a variety of dishes. Sahara Koy Cheese is a traditional Turkish style cheese made with unpasteurised cow’s milk. Serve it with olives, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers and alongside mezze platters with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Sahara Tulum Cheese is a classic Turkish white cheese traditionally produced in the North Eastern Anatolian and Aegean regions of Turkey. Traditionally the cheese was wrapped in “tulum” leather pouches or bags and left for maturation for up to 3 months, hence the name of the cheese.
